Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 in Mumbai, emphasized India’s growing global influence in content and culture. He said the world is witnessing the rise of the "Orange Economy" — built on the pillars of content, creativity, and culture — and India is positioned to lead it.
Drawing a comparison with the international success of Indian cuisine, PM Modi said, "Just as Indian khana has become globally popular, I am confident Indian gaana will follow suit." He noted that Indian films are now being released in over 100 countries, with growing foreign interest in Indian storytelling, often consumed with subtitles to understand the nuances of culture and emotion.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of creative responsibility, calling on content creators to maintain a balance between technological innovation and human sensitivity. “Humans should not be turned into robots. We need to make them more sensitive,” he said, underlining the need to shield young minds from harmful ideas in digital content.
He described WAVES as a vibrant platform bringing together global talent in film, music, gaming, fashion, and entertainment, and urged creators to harness India's diverse stories for global audiences. Modi affirmed that India's time to lead the global content revolution has arrived, aligning with the rising demand for innovative storytelling worldwide.
As digital screens shrink and content consumption grows, Modi believes India’s stories will resonate louder. With platforms like WAVES, India is not just participating in the global creative economy but aiming to shape it.
